Grades Pre-K & K

Pre Kindergarten Learning and Fun

This class is open to children who are 4 and 5 but are not going into kindergarten. While we will focus on the academics of phonics, reading, math, and science, we will use drama, art and music to create a fun atmosphere of learning.

Kindergarten Readiness

This class will help the student going into kindergarten have a better understanding of what to expect in school in September. We will focus on phonics, math, and writing while including science, art and social skills. Starting kindergarten can be an exciting yet scary proposition for many children. This summer program will help them meet new children and a new teacher and learn to adjust to a new environment.

Artful Tales

Let your imagination run wild in this phonics based reading class. You will hear fables, folktales, fiction and more. You will have an opportunity to demonstrate you own interpretations of the stories by crafting paper bag puppets, abstract paintings and other art forms while practicing your
reading.

Math Mania

How do we use numbers in the fun way? We will solve puzzles, work on problems, and have fun with numbers. This class includes food, art, and other different ways of learning. Students will be able to learn new concepts and reinforce the math they already know.

Kitchen Science

You will be experimenting with materials found in the kitchen and you could get messy!! We will emphasize the scientific thought process, asking questions, making guesses, and having fun becoming a mad scientist.

Ahoy Maids and Mates of the Caribbean

You will learn about pirates and their maids, the ships they sailed and the treasures that they were after. Do you know what they wore, what they ate, what music they listened to and how they acted? We will find out by asking questions, doing hands on activities and making our own ships.

Weird and Wacky Science

Who says science is boring? In this class you will have fun doing weird and wacky science experiments. You will encounter all new hands-on activities to review many science concepts. This is a class for the mad scientist at heart.

Mummy and Me

In this exciting class we will dress like Egyptians of the past. We will work with mosaics, hieroglyphics, study pyramids, and mummies.

Grades K-8

Reading and Writing

The cornerstones of our lives are reading and writing; the stronger our skills are at any age the better we can perform in school.  These reading and writing classes, be they reinforcement or advanced will help your child become better at these skills.  Reinforcement students will work on areas that need strengthening and will move ahead to next year's material if possible.  Advanced students will use already mastered skills to move ahead and challenge themselves. Regardless of the level of the student, these classes will reignite an excitement and enthusiasm for reading and writing.

Math

Students either love or hate math; in most cases the die has been cast early.  These math classes, be they reinforcement or advanced, will help students better comprehend the math they should have completed in school and that which will be coming their way next year.  Math can be taught many different ways; these classes will focus on instructing students in a method that will have them understand math in a way that  they didn't before.  The use of manipulatives will help accelerate the learning process.  We will use a chart to track the student's math knowledge in skill areas and then share this information with the parents.  Advanced math students will be taught with a lateral method of learning: mental math, games and how to use math in other areas of life.

Pre Kindergarten Learning and Fun

This class is open to children who are 4 and 5 but are not going into kindergarten.  While we  will  focus on the academics of phonics, reading, math,  and science, we will use drama, art and music to create a fun atmosphere of learning.

First Grade Learning Time

Not every child is ready to leave the cocoon of kindergarten and enter the realities of first grade.  Have your child experience a new setting, a new teacher and new class rules over the summer in preparation for the fall.  Students will work on reading, math and writing skills while enjoying science, art and socializing.
