Enrichment Center Suggests Educating, Not Vegetating, This Summer

The Enrichment Center, a full service tutoring and enrichment center, located at 424 Central Avenue in Westfield, is housed in a modern facility which is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible.  The Center has ample on-site free parking. The Enrichment Center employs over 85  state certified and experienced teachers.  Students from kindergarten through grade twelve can and will find a course of study, which is appropriate. No class is larger than eight students.

The Enrichment Center is offering a varied schedule over the summer to accommodate the needs of students, parents, and teachers.  Mrs. Elaine Sigal, owner and director of The Center, says, “I try to be sensitive to everyone in scheduling.  I am open for the entire summer, allowing for vacation, work, and family schedules to be accommodated.  There are two sessions: July and August; various times during the day and early evening; classes are also offered on Saturday.”  There is still limited availability.

Classes are being offered for K-8 grade level students who need to brush up on work that was studied in the past culminating with the present year.  The reinforcement offered will help students solidify the knowledge base needed to continue on to the next grade.  Gifted classes are offered for those students who have mastered grade level material and want to explore new avenues of learning.  All classes are taught by state certified and experienced teachers.  The Enrichment Center is known for its use of a hands-on approach to learning.  “This is not a paper and pencil based company, states Mrs. Sigal.  “All of The Enrichment Center’s teachers are creative and work with manipulatives to ensure concrete learning. Learning has to be fun and enjoyable to be successful.”  Students may choose to work on math, reading and writing and science and history.  When students are happy, they will learn.

High school students may choose to take PSAT/SAT I or SAT II classes.  A class in Writing is also offered.  The summer is a great time to take advantage of these classes; this is the time to study when there are no other educational distractions.  The Enrichment Center offers a combined course of study for the PSAT and SAT I that includes both educational skills and strategies.  The maximum class size of 8 is the smallest in this area.  All instructors are state certified and experienced in their respective fields.  Materials are provided and are created by The College Board, allowing students to learn and practice with accurate instructional tools.

The Enrichment Center also offers private tutoring 12 months a year.  This is a great time to get ahead or to reinforce any area of learning.  Private tutoring sessions are one hour in length and students pay as they go. Mrs. Sigal states, “We already have over 50 students registered for private tutoring this summer.  Some students are doing private P/SAT training, others are making up work they didn’t master this past year, and others are getting started on next year’s material.  Whatever the reason, this is a great opportunity to learn.” Two months is a long time to have students vegetating and not learning.

Educational testing is now being offered at the center.   If parents are not sure about their child’s level or if their child may have a problem that needs to be addressed, The Enrichment Center can help.  Testing is easy and can be done in a few hours.
