The Enrichment
Center offers
classes and tutoring to help your child make the
difference in school. Our state-certified teachers
are able to provide individualized instruction to meet the
unique learning needs and styles of your child. With classes of four to
ten students,
our teachers are able to respond to each child's needs.
Pre-K - 8 courses are separated by grade level.
Students enrolled in the summer session are grouped by the grade
they will be entering in the fall.
Learning Basics
One of the largest programs at The Enrichment Center is the
study of phonics and reading. Reading is the one subject that
has a carry-over effect into all subjects and all areas of life.
Strengthening reading skills will have long-lasting and
far-reaching benefits.
Math
skills are also a major area of concentration. Only The
Enrichment Center offers girls-only classes for math to
encourage girls in this area of learning. There are regular math
review classes as well.
The
Enrichment Center employs L.D.T/C's who are certified to
administer and assess educational testing. Parents may choose to
have their children tested for reading difficulties or to
determine grade levels. The Enrichment Center can also assess
various educational problems. Many parents prefer to have this
testing done privately and not through the school districts.
Education is a series of building blocks. Help your child be a
strong and effective learner.
Gifted & Talented
The Enrichment Center believes that all children should be
challenged and not stifled. Many students are not eligible for
the gifted program in their school, if one even exists for their
age. A decrease in school funding has forced many districts to
limit or eliminate this needed program.
The
Enrichment Center's gifted program fills this void. Our program
stimulates the interest of the child; it does not attempt to
push a child so far ahead in school that it creates more
problems in the classroom. We call this lateral enrichment. We
introduce new ideas based on the student's knowledge and
ability.
The
gifted program runs for children in Kindergarten through grade
eight. All materials used are above grade level, encouraging
students to think critically and achieve a higher level of
learning. When children are excited, challenged and motivated,
they soar. Elementary and middle school years are a time of
exploration for children. We need to understand that their minds
are like sponges, able and willing to absorb whatever comes
their way. Knowing your child can guide you into specific areas
of interest.
Please note that Gifted classes are listed within the regular
schedules by grade level.
Home School Students
Home schooled
students are welcome in any class offered at The Enrichment
Center. We can accommodate all grades and all levels,
including AP work for high school students. Students with
learning disabilities can also be accommodated.
