Grades K-8 Enrichment & Gifted Class Schedules - Winter 2008


Classes start January 26 - Register now for Winter Session!

All classes run for 10 weeks and meet for one hour per week.

All classes are open to students in grades K-8. Students will be grouped appropriately after we receive registration confirmation.

$249 per class.

 

 

Architecture

What is architecture? How do you begin to design something? How are bridges created? What makes buildings sturdy? Come and learn and design!

  • Sunday 6:30 pm

 

Creative Writing

There are many forms of writing, not just expository. In this non-judgmental class, students will have the opportunity to explore many different types of creative writing. All work will be critiqued with the intent of improving the student’s writing.

  • Thursday 6:30 pm

 

Forensic Science

From the crime to the solution – this class focuses on “How” crimes are solved. Learn to be a detective.

  • Sunday 3:30 pm

 

Games of Strategy

Develop advanced multi-step thinking skills, by playing games such as Chess and Battleship. Students will be instructed in the games as well as have help to become more proficient.

How Things Work

Students will have the opportunity to examine the inner workings of objects that interest them. Science, technology and inventions will be discussed. This is a hands-on class; each child will do each activity.

Improvisational Theater

Did you ever want to be able to just get up and act? Did you ever want to have more self-confidence? Did you ever want to have fun, act and not learn lines? Then this is the course for you!

Public Speaking

Are you nervous about getting up in front of your class to speak? Are you unsure about how to structure the many different types of speeches? Then this is a great class for you. Students will be speaking in each class.

  • Sunday 5:30 pm

 

Wall Street Wizards

Students will learn about stocks and bonds and what exactly occurs on Wall Street. They will pick stocks, create and follow a portfolio.

  • Sunday 12:30 pm

 

Weird and Wacky Science

Come to class prepared to experiment with the unusual. Students will learn the Scientific Method of Inquiry while using hands-on activities. Beware: this class is extraordinary.

  • Sunday 4:30 pm
